2009 Miles for Melanoma Run/Walk

CCMAC’s walk in May is always a highlight of the year, and serves many important purposes. It enables families, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grand parents and friends to acknowledge their loved one touched by melanoma. The walk also serves as a great source of encouragement and strength for those newly diagnosed, or living with Melanoma. Meeting and talking with other survivors who have successfully won their battles with melanoma has proven to be very supportive to participants. Cory Eisner, as always does an OUTSTANDING job of coordinating this event.

Pictured below with Islander Mascot Sparky, are members of the Dunn Family who travel in from the Hamptons to honor Laura Dunn, who passed from Melanoma in May 2002.

CCMAC, as always is very grateful for the continuing support of Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg. The prevention of Skin Cancer/Melanoma has long been and continues to be one Harvey’s biggest priorities (H. Weisenberg, pictured middle left w/C. Coyne, Harvey’s wife Ellen, and Cory Eisner, Walk Co-ordinator).

CCMAC also thanks John Remsen and his family, who show up ever year at 6:00am, rain or shine to help set up all the tents for the event. We also thank Joe Greblunas of Hillside Beverage for his continuing support of our initiatives, whether it is the annual walk or skin screenings at the beach, Joe ensures our participants are well hydrated.

Dr. McCLain, his family and the family dog (pictured below) are ready to walk, and always ready to lend a hand.
